We learned just yesterday morning that our oldest granddaughter's father committed suicide Wednesday afternoon. Lacey is not handling this well. She had gone to live with him as school started and has been dealing with her own demons. Now she feels responsible for her father. The only good thing is she was not at home when he did this. How cruel can life be to one little girl. She is at a local mental hospital to help her cope and keep an eye on her. We aren't allowed to see her. I am on my way up to Dirk's parents home to let them know we care and offer whatever we can, so will catch you all later.

Don't pay the ransom...We escaped!
Got home yesterday afternoon. We were so sore and tired, all we could do was sit and nap. This morning, we downloaded the camera and made CD's cuz neither of us know how to put them all on here. 165 photos in all, some from before we left, some are "oops, trigger finger" . Couldn't get any of the rapids we traversed on the Colorado as we were too busy hanging on for dear life. The smallest of the rapids was rated a "3" and the last two were "8". We enjoyed the "bottom up" for photos rather than the "top down" as the immenseness (is that a word?) was so overwhelming that words fail. The sights from the helicopter ride to take us to the top of the canyon was really cool too. We stayed at the Hualapai Ranch the night after the raft trip. There is no phone service there, and tv 's were none existent. So quiet. We enjoyed the peace after the whirlwind days before. Went to the campfire and learned about the history of the Hualapai nation, and how they came to do what they are doing there now.
We sent to the Skywalk the first day. The Skywalk (glass bridge thingy) was a disappointment. No cameras, no cell phones allowed on the bridge. They take their own photos with the token chief (headdress and all) that you can buy for just $30.00! The construction around the bridge takes away from the experience but it should look better when they get it done. More about this later.
As to Richard teaching Lisa how to shoot, the comment was just a joke people. You can't always take what Rich says so seriously!

Just stuff-n-such
Finished today with AARP Instructor Training for Driver Safety Program. I needed something constructive to do in my spare time. (Like I have any!)
We are presently getting ready to go on our much anticipated vacation to the Grand Canyon. Packing is the biggest pain. Rich has his ideas and mine don't mix. Oh well. My youngest daughter is coming over to "dog sit" as she was raised around all 4 of them, that way we haven't got any dogs pouting about being left. Last time we left them at home with my parents, and Minnie wouldn't have any interaction with them or us when we got home. We were on her shit list for at least 10 days. This time we won't have to worry about them as they all actually like Lisa. Richard plans to teach Lisa how to use the pistols we have for protection. Just in case. According to last weeks Messenger Index, there have been a rash of home burglaries in the county, some have been solved. others not. Don't want to be on either list.
Hope all is well with every one, and hopefully, we will have some photos to post when we get back.

Oscar
This Richard's baby. We got him before the oldest Grandaughter came along. That makes him 14+ years old. Tonight he jumped off of the chair and we thought we were going to lose him. He is slowly recovering, but still cannot walk. Left front leg just hangs. Of course this happens on a Friday night when no vet around here is open. All we can do is hope and pray that he will be okay. You just don't know how much you care about an animal until some thing like this happens. I'm gonna look for a vet, just in case. Wish us luck.

Aquisition of the Month

Redone bathroom works really well and we have enjoyed it a lot. So much easier to get in and out of. Getting older sucks at times.
Spoke to the granddaughters last night, Lacey is now 14 and Whitnee is 9! Talk about getting old!! Lacey is going to move in with her dad in Horseshoe Bend, and try school there for at least a semester. Whitnee is going to a Montessori school in Eagle. Sure have missed seeing them grow up.
Have to go to Nampa now so will catch up with y'all later!

Now for the yard sale, Friday was busy , lots of lookie loos ,sold lots of rocks , all that neat junk and and sold more rocks than any thing else. Sat. was real slow all day , but we stuck with it and sold more rocks . People are strange but at least we have less junk. And then there was a car wreck out on the hiway and they wiped out my yard sale sign. I had to go rescue it for rehab. Nobody hurt , but both cars were junk. Sunday was real slow It was like slow motion only in reverse. More rocks gone, wished i had more rocks, hot sellers. going to start bagging gravel, painting river rocks. Hay woman get on the phone and order a load of road mix and get some more zip lock bags. ROCKS ARE HOT.

Bathroom Redo - Redux

This is where the measurements say to add the shelves. I know, the photos are bassackwards but I am still learning how to do this crazy blog.
Along with the bath redo, we are getting ready for our yard sale this weekend. Lots of stuff like bar stools, tables, ceiling fans, dishes, appliances, etc. that you find in most yard sales. Pretty soon I will have to go to town to get change for this fiasco. Gale might bring the Trug out for show and tell. Maybe we can find a buyer .
Cola looks like he is fitting in well and seems to be handling all the hoopla. He is a well mannered puppy and loveable as well. He scared me half to death yesterday when I couldn't find him. He was hiding really good. He would not come out until the other dogs talked him into it.
More pictures later, maybe even in the right order!
