Mean Green Machine

Introducing THE HULK ,the latest acquisition and number four in line for a restoration. This beautiful old truck is one of my long time dreams, don't ask me why, it's just that I could never get the image of this body style out of my head. I think it's a disease. Like a head cold and a bad cough.

THE HULK came to me by way of Curly as you can tell it got the best of care, so it's not going to be a lot of work. OH! By the way I have this big ass Bridge to sell, Cheap. I'm just glad it was already here , and I didn't have to go get it.

Princess Blue

Redressing the Princess, Full primer and guide coat. Now the task of wet sanding with 400 grit wet paper and lots of water, plus about 80 man hours. This is her under ware, I'm just taking out the wrinkles. If you stand out side and catch the light just right look down the side of the car and see the SHINE,this is just primer, blows my mind. Curly came over and worked with me for about 3 hours we got a lot done. Curly and I talked it over the Hulk is now mine.Whats a Hulk ,well it is a 1965 Dodge short wheel base 4x4 pick up. Lite green you know Forest Service green. Some old seat out of a Cadillac and a cracked steering wheel. Needs an a/c bad, anyway back to the Princess. My gaol is to be finished by Show and Shine mid July.

Signs of stupidity or???

The last 2 weeks were supposed to be relatively quiet. So much for relatively quiet. The roof got finished, to a point. Had to leave the DirecTv dishes in place until last Thursday. DirecTv was to be here to change dishes, install new receivers etc. They allotted him 75 minutes and deleted the dish change. Dish had to come off the roof, so it is now on the pump house, new wires run and the new receivers connected and started. Tech was here for 4 hours (7 o'clock!). The problem being my mother was admitted to the hospital for excessive bleeding on that morning, and I had to wait until the tech was done before we could go over to see her. Of course, her being the matriarch of the family, all had to be notified and explained the circumstances. I was the one who got to do most of that. She went home on Sunday, I got that assignment too.

Poor Richard had to deal with my drama, the roof, and the tech. Sent photos to insurance to get rest of money to pay roofer, when he finished. He had to get the roofer to finish the spot where the dishes had to be taken off the roof. That got accomplished yesterday, in the rain and blow.

Richard got a guitar from the auction last week. Got it home, has a instructional cd, a strap, and some extra wires. The catch? the saddle has a chunk out of it so it has to be repaired. Auction stuff. After all these years he wants to try to learn again. He says "sign of stupidity or too much time on my hands."

I offered to help the sewer district, again. "Sign of stupidity or too much time on my hands." This time I get to match all the addresses with spots on a map. Trying to verify who is where. I also get to set up a spread sheet to give to the county so that those patrons that are way behind in their bills will have the arrears amount added to their taxes. Good thing we get reimbursed for some of this stuff. Cannot even add up the hours Rich has put in, for free, as a board member. I have over 100 hours invested also, plus mileage for "field trips" etc. Most of what I do is because no one else will volunteer. Some of it is because it is stuff they (board) don't know how to handle. They need more people who care what goes on.

Life goes on. And on and on....

News that was news at one time.

These are the two screws that they took out of Lucy's leg. The plate and 3 screws were left in as the bone has grown into and around the plate and the holes. The vet assistant thought this was appropriate. (This after Lucy bit her)

This is how she slept. Notice the cast. The only thing is, Lucy sleeps this way anyway. On her back with front legs pushing the covers up and away.

This is the new hole Richard put into the master bath so we could replace the fan while the roof was open. So not only did I have plaster to clean up, but all the stuff from the work being done on the roof (i.e. parts of shingles, the little rocks, insulation). The roofers sent us to Home Depot to get a replacement fan and then they fixed the roof around it. Cool beans. Fan works great.

These are the brave souls who climbed up on the roof to do the work. In real time, it only took 2 days of work. They are quick and efficient too.

There they are. Still on the roof.

It is finally finished and looks wonderful. The color of the shingles is Deerskin Tan and really sets off the red on the house. Looks like a glove.

Daily notes

Last Friday we took the trailer back to Nelsons RV for warranty work. Didn't realise how much room that thing takes up in the driveway until it was gone. Rich said it pulled very nicely. Saturday, he picked up a lot of metal scrap from around here and loaded it into a trailer. All day job. Sunday was a day of rest. Monday, we took the trailer load over to the junk metal place in Caldwell and got rid of it and got paid to boot. Scrap iron is $200 per ton now. Later we were out in the yard, and the roofer showed up. They will start on Tuesday morning. Cool. They took off all the old stuff yesterday and put the tar paper and such on. Today they will replace the whole roof. Pictures to follow. Life is good. No drama, no controversy, no bitchers, no whiners, just Robby trying to get a drivers license, and wanting Rich to take him to his test on Thursday as I make him nervous. We have my dad's litle Ranger PU for Rob to use for his test. He drives pretty well, but has no experience in town driving, and he can't practice in town cuz he has no license. Catch 22 anyone? Yard work progressing nicely. Getting ready to burn leaves and such. Will have more space for junk or mowing now that most of the scrap is gone. Still have the old Dodge PU and 2 Dodge cabs, but they are leaving soon I hope. Haven't fed the fish for a while, so had to do that too. Bye for now. CB (with Rich coaching)

Surgery

Not for me or Richard, this time it is Lucy's turn. We noticed on Thursday last week, that Lucy was licking her right front knee a lot. Made a hot spot. Took her to the vet on Friday. At about age 2 or 3, she broke her leg. It was surgically set with a plate and some screws. Well, one is coming out and needs to be removed. Hence, the surgery. I took her in at 7:45 this moring, surgery is at around 10:30 and home around 3:00 we hope. Lucy loves to ride, but after the trip on Friday, she wasn't sure about going with me again by herself. She was wailing up a storm when I left. Sure is hard to leave them when they cry like that.

News for you

Due to Qwest changing their Internet setup and canceling their deal with MSN, we were informed that if we wanted to keep our Internet service as is, it would cost us $59.95 more per year for a contract with MSN or lose all the "extras" like favorites, tools, even the back button. Richard called MSN for information and they canceled his "extras" already. He cannot go anywhere on the internet with out actually typing in the address. All his favorites are gone, can't find them.
For what we pay for Qwest, we thought this was unacceptable so we are canceling everything thru Qwest. Phones and internet. So all our calls will be accepted on the cell phone. (Like we have that many anyway.) This takes affect on the 23rd. So you all need to get the cell # if you don't have it.
As for me, doing ok. Still have a bad day every now and then, but more good days than bad. Yay rah!!! Have lost over 6 inches off my waist, more elsewhere.
For the first time, I tried on a pair of jeans, and had to find another pair as they were too big! Milestone!
You all have a good week, mine's looking better all the time.
