Happy 4th of July

I wish our dinner yesterday looked and tasted like the photo. Come to think of it, it did taste like the photo. Dry, no flavor. Looked ok, but there you go. A guy we met at the gym and his wife brought out his favored steaks and marinade for us all to enjoy. Meat was really alright, just no flavor. He warned me about the maridade, but I couldn't taste anything. Instead of searing, he closed the lid and they all roasted. He has a good heart, so we ate. He and Richard have alot in common. Scarey, huh? Dave is alot more boisterous though. Dave's wife, Tracy, works at what used to be call the Pratt Ranch for Boys. It still functions in the same capacity, just for more affluent clients. 35 boys in all. 10k per month per kid. Wow. Tracy is the principal of the school. Most programs last 9 months. Dave works for the county weed control. All in all we had a very nice time.
Don't know about fireworks viewing as of yet. They will be shot off at the Gem Sports Island thingy. May just stay home and watch the dogs jump. Started last night, and Minnie jumped and shivered every time one went off. Lucy burrows into whatever and whoever she is with. Emmie is deaf, so she doesn't hear the booms.
You all stay safe and do the "ooh" and "ahh" stuff. Catch you later.
Oh, by the way, Rich is writing a letter to Aunt Vivian. If you have any messages, let him know.

The Fun Begins

So, now the fun starts. Had 2 meetings since being approved for the board. Had 5 phone calls from irate board members. Had 1 big blow up at the president of the board for gossiping, and the hits just keep on coming. We have been researching the legal status of the district. Found no records of filings with the IRS but we have and EIN (employer id number) and no "employees". All new paperwork to file with the state for "nonprofit utility" and the trailer that houses the office is a disaster. Nothing is in any sense of order. Estimates coming for new electrical panel, while Richard tries to keep the pumps running the s--t flowing with old and new tech running together in the panel. So he is juggling the appts and fixes. Our saving grace is being able to work out each morning. Great way to work off stress and frustration.
Had a nice visit with everyone on Friday. Will post photo of face plate with the additions on it as soon as we get one.
Still thinking positive for "the boy" and his Mama. Never any rest the moms.

Mom's can

I was not kidding about putting Mom in a plastic coffee can, it's perfect! Probably considered tacky in some circles, but Mom being from the sand hills of Colorado where a person used what they had to make do. She would get a hoot out of this. Don't forget Dad liked his coffee too.

FLOOD!

We used to ride our motorcycles down in there to see the river. Easier from the road now as the river has come to us.
This was taken from our front yard. Looks like a funnel cloud.

Water is just a few inches from the bottom of the Letha bridge.

This the pasture the owner was getting ready to mow for hay. Now they have to replace fences and hope the grass comes back quickly.

This is just a small sample of what is happening. More water expected from upstream, as the clouds are going north and dumping on McCall area and filling the dams and rivers with all sorts of junk. Trees, mud, rocks, trash. If you get a chance, check out Gem County Facebook page.
Later ya'll.

Mom's Muligan

Just got home from Potters and the date is the 18th of June at 11:oo am at the niche where Dad is. No ceremony just a short get together and we are done. How about lunch after things are all done, I vote we invade Gale's for a BBQ . Now if you can't make it, don't feel bad no ones going to hold your toes to the fire. Royce if you can't make it there is always UPS. ;) We need to decide on what to put on the cover under Dad's info , keeping in mind there is not much room.

Dads

Went to see Shorty yesterday. Gave him fair warning. "Guess who's coming to dinner?" No explosions. No lightning strikes. So I guess all is well. After, we went to my grandparents graves, then to Emmett for the other grandparents. As we were looking for the Horns, a large group (at least 40) bikers gathered to pay respects to a fallen comrade. I think it was "Sam". They parked in the middle of the road, and it's skinny anyway, walked over the grave, hugged each other, turned around and left. Held up the traffic for a good 5 minutes.
We found the Horns after a little work, then drove right to the Berglunds'. Paul and Wanda had left flowers.
Called my dad and spoke with him for a few. He was feeling a little edgy about the surgery, and a little testy too. To be expected. My aunt and uncle were in Boise on their way to Washington, so mom and dad were thinking about going to dinner with them. They ended up not going as mom's blood sugar was too high and she felt like heck.
This afternoon, we are going to Gale's for a BBQ. Someone else cooking, yeah!
Have to go fix breakfast with Richard. We have a system. One cooks eggs, one does toast. So you all have a great Memorial Day. Home workout day, too.

The Reunfication of Ma and Pa

Called Potter's today in conference with Vets Cemetery. Dates and times are pretty much open during the week of Cherry Festival. (June 17-19)We figure the time should be around 11 a.m. so as to not be so hot. Our options are: we can have a small memorial at the shelter where we had dad's (in which case we cannot go to the niche) or we can have a small get together at the niche, say whatever, at which time mom's ashes would be placed with dad's and the cover placed by the attendants. That would be it, done. That's it in a nutshell. Fast. Sweet. Simple.
I would like your input ASAP as I need to tell Potter's on the Tuesday (June 1st).
