Gale's first Beer, triggered what comes next. I was stationed in New Port on the USS Hawkins DD 873 as a mess cook with week end liberty. So,off to town I go to meet up with fellow mess cooks at a watering hole where someone who was 21 sneaked in a bottle of vodka, we all ordered cokes and started passing the bottle under the table the cokes just got clearer and clearer, it turned out to be a real short night. I was told the next day that I was crawling around on the floor try to look up some gals dress. The Shore Patrol showed up and I got a free ride back to the ship. I came to in my rack with nothing on but a smile. Not to mention a Huge hangover with an urge to pee. Crawled out and went up to the head. Sitting on the throne and saw this bucket with someones blues soaking in water. I reached and grabbed the blues to see whose name was on the tag, dam they was mine.
The ship pulled into Key west and over the PA system the word was passed that a softball game and cookout was being offered behind the Chiefs club. Steaks, Burgers, tons of Beer and the game was on, It should have been on tape, don't try running bases with and open beer it's like a foam explosion and you are out of beer before you get to third, if you get to third. Two more sloppy outs and it's our turn in the field. Beer in each pocket and burger in my mitt, I was on second. There's no safe places to put beer or burger and try to keep an eye on the ball.I don't remember the end of the game. But I do remember waking up in the the Motor whale Boat and the Ship was underway. OH shit!!! I then went down to the shop where I worked and in the door I went, every one turned and looked at me like I was from another planet. Where the hell have you been? We wrote you up for missing ships movement.
There are hundreds if not thousands more little stories, but the fog is a little thick. Except for this one. The USS Roark FF 1053 was in Subic and we had a ships party you know dancing girls and the whole shitteree, well things got very drunk out. The party started losing steam, so it was time to head for town. About a dozen of us jumped on a jitney headed for any open bar that would have us. There's one thing about Subic I don't think anyone has ever drank it dry, but that was our goal. After several attempts I stumbled outside and found this power pole that was falling over and I was holding it up. I don't know how long I had been there , I heard this , are you all right? I looked up and it was Phil , shit where did you come from, you look drunk, where's your ship? Come on let's get you back to your boat, You can't wander around like this, you might fall in shit river or worse. So I got him back on base, with no problems, off down the street we stumbled, looking for Phil's boat, as thing's worked out we found mine first. I guess Phil got back to his boat OK, I went to bed.
Well thanks Gale for the Beer induced memories, Royce could tell a few as well.

Playing with the Goldfish
On the top of this blog is the goldfish tank. We have discovered that if you put the arrow/cursor in the tank, they follow, Not only that, but if you click on the fish tank, little red dot thingies appear and the fish go after them.Must be web fish food. Rich spent time just playing with the fish. If they were real they would be really fat or dead from over feeding them. Ain't life grand?
We have been busy doing what seems to be nothing. Watched the game in bits and pieces. Watched the races without commercials as we record them first.
Been exercising daily. Rich looks really good!!! As for me, let's change the subject.
Rich has been working on getting the district running on full. Got new electrical box, added stuff to box, inspection, more stuff to box, need another inspection. Seems to go that way. Never done entirely correct the first time. Got our EIN for the district. Working on getting a non-profit status from the IRS. Looking at bids for the test required by DEQ next year. Curley just called, broke down at Tom's Cabin. Rich to the rescue! Phone rings again. Now he is taking Curley home. Don't know why. Will find out later.
Lacey is in school at Emmett High (Junior!!!). She is staying with Dirk's sister, Lori, and her family. I guess she is doing ok. When I speak to her on the phone, I get one word answers. Hard to carry a conversation that way.
Dog alert. Outside time. Later. Cathy

Add 3/4 small carton of cool whip. stir in 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts. mix and refrig, for one hour. Sunday in Letha
I wonder why it is , that bumper stickers are so fascinating. I do believe it says a lot about the owner of the bumper. But then again, it could be an add on from a practical joker, or a gift from ones' significant other. Either way it's income for someone and something to cover all those dirty scratches on an other wise chrome bumper. Also gives one something to think about while waiting for the light to change. It's fun to be at the front of the line when the light changes but there's nothing to read. The only other alternative is to count people on their cell phones as they pass in front of you in the turn lane. Chocolate ice cream cone for the most counted, YAY RAH lets go for a drive. But back to bumper stickers. This the latest one I read.

This is Emmy. To be precise, Bergie's Emmy Winner. Yes, she is registered. She is also 15 years old. Exactly 1 year younger than Oscar. Emmy follows us everywhere we go. Being blind, she stays close to our feet. Of course, that means we trip over her a lot. She follows us to the computer room, and lays on the floor behind me, so I have to make sure I don't step on her when I leave. She sleeps quite a bit. She snores. She sneezes and wheezes. But we love her.
She has always been consistent with her manner. Food first, anything else is second. Being blind and deaf and mostly toothless, if a hand touches her, the first thing she does is check for food by mouthing the hand. She is so set in this habit, that if I reach down to pick her up, no matter where we are at, she backs up so as to not miss the possible food. This has caused her to fall off the porch a couple times before I figured out a way to pick her up. I ambush her. I reach down with both hands out far enough and from above, that she can't see them coming and like a clamshell, I grab with both hands around her middle and hang on. She jumps cuz it startles her, but I cannot get her to hold still otherwise. I have to do this to help her up onto the chair to sit with me. Even being blind, she has figured how to get up in Richard's chair. He puts the foot rest of the recliner out at an angle and she climbs up between his feet, he puts the chair up the rest of the way, and she curls up between is feet. He has taught her this way because we are back to not being able to pick her up like a normal dog. Despite being blind and deaf and toothless, she is the healthiest dog of 15. She was Oscar's little sister. They were born from the same parents, just one year and one litter apart. Little Man and Minnie were the same, with Emmy as the mother and a black and tan (like Lucy) for a dad. His name was Taz. He was a cool dog, but entirely stupid and ignorant when Emmy was in heat.
Emmy and Minnie were just put to bed, as Rich has had enough of dogs sitting on him. It was too hot to go outside for long, so we vegetated in the house all day, watched the race and took a nap. All with dogs sitting on us. Lucy sleeps with us, the other two have the utility room and can go outside when they need to at night.
My turn to go to bed. Catch you all on the flip side.
